Shaft Shark split line cutter unit fits sail-drive propellers from Max Prop, Volvo Penta, Flexofold, Gori and more!

Shaft Shark Saildrive propeller split 2-piece models are also available for Saildrive folding & feathering propeller, with no saildrive zinc or saildrive propeller hub modifications necessary. Again easily installed by a diver. The Shaft Shark clamps around the Saildrive propeller hub so we need to know the propeller type to correctly size the Shaft Shark model or the propeller hub dia.

It does not fit on a fixed saildrive propeller as there is no room to clamp around the hub.

The SHAFT SHARK is a serrated edge circular blade … machined from high quality (316L) type stainless steel. It is available as a split 2 x piece unit for quick and simple installation. Also available as a single piece unit for larger shafts. Models are split units and so installation is simple and quick. No need to remove the propeller to install.

Torque Saildrive SS 695 & 696 - M8 – 146.2in-lb, use 6mm allen wrench

Saildrive Maxprop Easy, 63mm, use 2.5" SS 500 and grind

Saildrive GP 80, 78mm, use 3.00" SS 600 and bore

Saildrive VP76, 80mm, use 3.00" SS 600 and bore

Saildrive Varifold 73.6mm, use 2.75 SS 600

Saildrive Variprop GP107, 95mm, use SS 695

How do I choose the right model? Supply the type of sail-drive propeller you are affixing the blade to.

What is a SHAFT SHARK? The SHAFT SHARK is a serrated edge circular blade … machined from high quality (316L) type high corrosion resistant stainless steel. It is a split two-piece unit for quick and simple installation on shafts & Saildrive propeller hubs.

What does it do? Attached to your shaft just forward of your propeller, it rotates with the shaft or Saildrive hub, cutting away any rope, weed or debris that might try to entangle your shaft & propeller.

Why do I need one? To keep your propeller free from rope, weeds and underwater debris, to eliminate the possibility of damage to your shaft, propeller and strut, and to eliminate the need for being towed due to fouled stern gear or propeller.

How do I choose the right model? Supply (1) the shaft diameter on your boat either standard SAE (inch) or metric and (2) the diameter of the forward end of your propeller hub. For saildrive units, supply the make and model of your propeller.

As all models are a split, two-piece unit, the installation is simple and quick. There is no need to remove the propeller. There is no need for drilling/tapping or shaft extension. We supply the locking glue. Installation can be done underwater.

The SHAFT SHARK is sized to both the shaft and the propeller or Saildrive hub diameter to ensure the lowest drag factor for the boat. Overall drag will vary depending upon the speed of the boat … the propeller hub diameter and the size of the SHAFT SHARK installed. Therefore, there are different model units to suit the shaft and hub combinations.

Maintenance: With no moving parts to maintain or replace on an annual basis maintenance is minimal. The edges can be re-sharpened with a fine file of stone.
