Launched in 1982, Volvo Penta showed the marine industry that twin counter-rotating propellers could produce unparalleled thrust, straight and true tracking along with faster acceleration – a completely new boating experience. The duoprop sterndrive boat propellers are designed to form a vital part of the driveline, providing highly efficient and predictable handling, together with excellent onboard comfort and fuel efficiency. Volvo Penta duoprops are designed, tested and manufactured together to ensure not only a high-top speed, but the best overall performance – all this while securing the service life of your drive. If your in need of a particular tool to remove your Propeller or Duoprops, we offer a complete line-up of OEM Volvo Penta Tools and all related Propeller Attaching Hardware.

We also stock various prop pullers, including Inboard prop pullers.

PowerTech has developed and patented the CUSHION-LOK HUB system that has all but eliminated hub failure and drive shaft damage with propellers also offered in the press-in rubber hub and square hub designs to use drop in hub kits. PowerTech leads the world in propeller designs/part numbers, manufacturing more combinations of features than any other propeller manufacturer. Along with our many standard, all-purpose designs, PowerTech Propellers are available for almost every motor range, including semi-cleavers, double-cups, triple-cups, pontoon/workboat props, 3, 4 and 5 blades. From the all-purpose to the exotic, ranging from 9.25” up to 18.5” diameter Mercury Bravo II Propeller fitments, we offer a wide variety of blade geometries and configurations, so that we might handle the many and varied performance needs of our customers.

Our experienced staff of “Prop-Tologist” professionals at Getaprop field phone calls and e-mails from around the world, every day, analyzing boat performance and recommending the most appropriate propeller from the extensive product line. This way the customer gets the right tool for the right job. With over 500,000 boat propellers in service worldwide, Getaprop has grown into an internationally recognized market leader through innovation, performance, quality and customer service. We ship to boaters worldwide daily, and most orders will ship same business day by 3pm (Pacific Standard Time).

Boat Propeller Tips

Boat Propeller Tips

To choose the perfect propeller, match the manufacturers wide open throttle (WOT) range to the propeller. When looking at the propeller pitch, you want to ensure it keeps the engine RPM within the accepted range, to maximize the boats performance.

It also depends on the type of boating you want to do, eg if you want the skiers to get out of the water as fast as possible, then you want a lower pitch to increase the hole shot speed.

Whilst a higher pitched prop will allow the boat to move faster with each rotation. When you tune the progressive pitch angle, you can minimize slip and improve your fuel economy. The curved lip of a propeller helps it get the best "bite" on the water, helping to reduce slipping and ventilation issues, whilst ensuring faster acceleration.

For boat racing, you'll want the leading edge to be round, and the trailing edge to be cut straight. The perfect propeller will stop your engine from over-revving whilst still allowing you to maximize RPM.

When using a cupped prop you will usually generate a higher top end speed. You should also consider the rake of the propeller.

There may be some natural cavitation in many propellers, but excessive cavitation can result in excess vibration and physical damage to the propeller blade surface due to bubbles collapsing on the blade, and so should be avoided. Cavitation can be caused by damage to the blade edge, incorrect pitch, incorrect propeller style, and running gear too close to the propeller.

Ventilation is also something to watch out for. where the exhaust gasses are pulled into the propeller blades, causing the RPMs to increase and the boat to lose speed.

You may choose to carry a replacement propeller on board for those "just in case" moments.

Choose from our extensive range of materials, including an aluminum propeller range and a stainless steel propeller range.

Whether you want an outboard propeller, and inboard propeller, a marine propeller, a cupped propeller, or a ski boat propeller, we have the right prop for you - with excellent propeller design from the top brands in the world.
